Roker Pier and Roker Lighthouse are two of Sunderland's most famous landmarks. Roker Lighthouse was constructed in 1903 of grey and red Aberdeen granite. The Lighthouse stands 23m high and is still operational. Roker Pier has a unique tunnel which runs the full length of the Pier. Roker Lighthouse has recently been restored and will be open to the people of Sunderland later in 2016
