Maryport, on the North West Coast has been through tough times over the years, but still boasts a small fleet of fishing boats, working out of the old harbour in Maryport. In 2009 one of the boats sank with the loss of three lives, commemorated on a memorial in the harbour dedicated to 'Three sons of Maryport who never came home'. The town has been benefitting from redevelopment and new investment in recent years and boasts a new marina.
In so many ways the human race has lost its connection with nature. I developed a love of nature in my teens, which has never left me, and it's my wish that, in some small way, my images will help you reconnect with the beautiful world we live in and share. My close up images show you the intricate beauty of nature which, I hope, will encourage you to stop, really look and appreciate the beauty and magnificent complexity of all creation. I'm never happier than when I'm sitting beneath a tree deep in a wood. I hope you find and deepen your connection too.
