Allium ursinum, known as wild garlic, ramsons, buckrams, broad-leaved garlic, wood garlic, bear leek or bear's garlic is prolific in Spring woodlands, appearing before bluebells. The leaves are edible and wild garlic has been used in cooking for centuries. This wonderful display in a County Durham wood was a delight to walk through and is seen as an indicator of ancient woodland
