Description
The screes bordering Wastwater in Wasdale, Lake District, look like rivers frozen in time. Wastwater Screes are fells towering above Wastwater, rising to Illgill Head, 600 metres above the lake and continuing for almost 80 metres below the water level. The screes formed as a result of ice and weathering erosion on the rocks of the Borrowdale Volcanic Group, that form the fells. If you look closely you can see signs of a footpath along the fells.
