Description
A painterly rendering of the Eildon Hills near Melrose in the Scottish Borders. 'The Eildons' is actually just one hill with three peaks in total, overlooking Teviotdale to the South as well as the town of Melrose. One of the largest known hill forts in Scotland, it was also a Roman signalling station. The view of The Eildons was a favourite of the Poet Walter Scott and is the basis of his poem ‘The Lay of the Last Mistrel’.
