Description

Heather moorland near Rosedale Abbey overlooking Rosedale Moor in the North York Moors district of Ryedale. Steep and winding routes on either side of the dale lead down to the village of Rosedale Abbey, which never, infact, had an abbey - just a small Cistercian nunnery. Although now a pretty village, in Victorian times Rosedale had a flourishing ironstone industry.
