Artist's Description
Named after a Medieval Castle that was long since abandoned, Castleton lies in the North York Moors below the Cleveland Hills in Eskdale and close to the Moorland town of Danby. This image was taken from North of the village, looking towards Church House and Danby moor. The village stretches out along nearly half a mile of the northern end of Castleton Rigg. As a result, every street in the village is on a slope.
